A Strong Start to the Florida Classic Series
Our Celebrity Ballroom team traveled to Orlando for the 2026 Florida Spring Classic, kicking off an exciting season of competition, growth, and unforgettable experiences. Hosted at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton at Universal Orlando, this event brought together incredible talent, world-class coaching, and a vibrant dance community.
We arrived on Friday, April 18th, ready to dive into a weekend full of learning, dancing, and connection.
World-Class Coaching & Preparation
The weekend began with workshops led by some of the industry’s top professionals, including Marzena Stachura, Kasia Kozak, Tommy DiTommaso, and JT Thomas.
These sessions gave our students and instructors the opportunity to refine technique, elevate performance quality, and walk onto the competition floor with confidence.
Saturday Night: VIP Party & Special Performances
Saturday evening brought one of the highlights of the weekend—a VIP dinner and party with a fun Country Western Glam theme. From stylish outfits to high-energy line dancing, the room was full of excitement and personality. (Bonus: Milly's newest niece, Calla, was born during dinner). A standout moment of the night was a private performance by David and Vika Nymechek—Rising Star Vice Champions and Open Rhythm Finalists. They performed two stunning routines that captivated the entire room and set the tone for the rest of the weekend.
Sunday Competition & Evening Gala
Sunday was dedicated to competition, where our team danced their Smooth and Rhythm events throughout the day. The energy, focus, and growth displayed on the floor were a true reflection of the hard work put in leading up to the event.
That evening, we celebrated at the formal dinner and awards gala. David and Vika Nymechek returned to the floor with another performance, this time 3 of their dances, adding an elegant finish to an already incredible weekend.

A Special Spotlight: Bill & Holly Welsh
We would like to take a moment to recognize Bill and Holly Welsh not only for their incredible results this weekend, but for their commitment to representing our studio throughout the entire Florida Classic Series this year.
They will be competing at all three events, and we could not be more thankful to have them as part of our team. Milly Elkin-Crenshaw and Josh Crenshaw truly love dancing with them and working alongside them. This journey is not always easy—it requires a great deal of hard work, consistency, and perseverance. There are moments of frustration, and sometimes even tears, but the rewards, memories, and meaningful experiences both on and off the dance floor far outweigh those challenges.
Our hope for Bill and Holly this year is simple: that they have an incredible time both on and off the floor, that they find joy in their accomplishments, their improvements, and even in their mistakes along the way, and that they always know how proud we are of them. Their dedication, attitude, and trust in the process make them a joy to travel with, coach, and dance with, and we are excited to continue this journey together.
Monday: Celebrating at Universal Orlando
After a full weekend of dancing, we wrapped up the trip with a well-earned day of fun at Universal Orlando Resort.
We explored both Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure with a private VIP guide, allowing us to experience the parks in a seamless and exciting way.
Highlights included:
Riding the incredible Jurassic World VelociCoaster
Visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Enjoying a classic Butterbeer together
Walking over 25,000+ steps (after a full day of competing the day before!)
It was the perfect way to celebrate a successful competition weekend as a team.
Looking Ahead: Fort Lauderdale – June 14th
We are incredibly proud of everyone who represented Celebrity Ballroom at this event. The growth, the teamwork, and the results all point toward an exciting season ahead. Thank you to Tommy & Pam DiTomasso for putting on such a wonderful event every time!
Next stop: Fort Lauderdale on June 14th, followed by Tampa in September for the final leg of the Florida Classic Series.
